Reflection 2nd Period

In my opinion, this second partial was better than the first one, not only because of my grade, it was better because of my improvements. In the beginning of the partial I went to class but I did not pay a lot of attention, being honest. Then, miss Toledo talked to us and asked us what was going wrong with the complete team because she noticed that we weren’t paying attention to class. Then I realized that I was wrong by not caring about the English class and I began to pay attention again. I learned many new words and also the speaking sessions have been really useful to practice the language. As miss Toledo told us, this is going to be our last English course in the University, so we need to take advantage of it.

Art Collage

We made this collage about identity and art. Every picture here is one of the masterpieces of their authors and they represent their identity or what they represented at the time they create them and how we remember them nowadays. We added to the collage music of guns 'n roses, paintings from Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Warhol, Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. We think that those are some of the most important people who tried to expose their identity using the art.

3 best options for fast and affordable cars in Mexico

In the last years, car companies have built different cars depending to the necessities of people. For example, with the high costs of petrol, they have been making hybrid and electric cars for users not to spend much money in gasoline. Brands such as Nissan, Honda, Toyota and Chevrolet were the first ones to introduce hybrid cars to the market and nowadays we can see the cars rolling on the streets such as the Toyota Prius, the Nissan Leaf or the Honda Civic and CR-Z. They also have done new small engines (4 cylinders) with superchargers or turbochargers to make the cars go as fast as a car with a big engine (6 or 8 cylinders). But people who love to go fast and the sound of the engine is absolutely not going to buy a slow and quiet hybrid car. Want they want is power, a manual transmission and the adrenaline to the top. Here are the best three options of cheap, fast, small engine and noisy cars in the market.

1. 2014 Honda Civic Si:

The new 2014 Honda Civic Si have some changes in the body kit but the engine is the same as the 2013. A strong i-VTEC 2.4L with 205 hp. It comes with a manual transmission of 6 gears, ABS system and a Multi Link Rear Suspension. The sound of the car is really noise when you go upper than 2000 rpm. It is the best option because of the power, the stability, the Honda interface and the driving experience. A con of this car is that if you need to change a part of the engine or something of the mechanics of the car, they are still to expensive in Mexico. Apart from that, it is a great car which will lead you to enjoy the trip. The price of the car is $364, 900 in Mexico.

2. 2014 Ford Focus ST:

For us not to miss the fabulous Focus RS of the las few years, Ford launched the ST version of their best seller car. It comes with a 2.0L GTDI engine which gives 250 hp. It also has a 6 manual gears transmission, ABS and Multi Link Rear Suspension. The pros of this car are that Ford has a great accessories catalog for you personalize the car as you wish. Another one is that Ford maintenance is not as expensive as Honda and they also have a great service. The cons is that as this car has a turbo, you will have to be aware of taking care of this engine. And also, as it has a turbo, you will have a nice answer of the engine in a short distance but then you will start losing power. It costs $369,400 in Mexico.

3. 2014 Seat Leon FR Coupe:

This car is one of the favorites of mexican people. It has many years here in Mexico it Seat has always announced that is one of the best sellers in the country. This time the car has been modified in all aspects. The body kit is completely different, also the engine and now the transmission. For this coupe version, the Leon comes with a 7 gears DSG automatic transmission. It also has a 1.8L TSI engine which gives 180hp. The pros of this car is that seat add to the car the Seat Drive Profile where you can choose the way of driving the car. You can choose between an eco, normal of sport profile which modifies some engine arrangements. Another pro is the Start&Stop technology which turns off the car when it is completely stopped and it immediately turns it on when you push the gas pedal. The cons are that it also has a turbo so you will have a great response of the car in a short distance and another and I think an important one is that it does not come with a manual gear box, just with the DSG 7 gears.
The price of the car is $369,900 in Mexico.

Draw of my life

While I was making the video, first I thought about the most important things that had happened in my life. They were a lot so I choose the most important ones. They made me think about all my life, how lucky I am for having such a  wonderful parents that I know that they have done their best effort for my happiness. It is very nice to do this kind of things because it help us to practice the language and it also help us to think about our lives, family and in our worst and best moments. Thinking about the future is not always right in my opinion. I think that we should take the right decisions at the moment and then our future will be as good as we want. I hope you enjoy the video, I don't know how to draw but I did the best I could.

Reflection 1st Period:

In this first period we talked about cross cultural understanding, cultural shock, prejudices, equity, equality and many more. I learned a lot of new vocabulary about the topics and also a lot of cultural knowledge. The presentation of my partners, most of them, were very good. They explained the topics the best they could and give good examples. I think the best presentation was the one of friendship. They gave many examples, nice definitions and they closed with an activity.
I got three badges and 6 six points. The badges were because my team decided to give them to me. They say that it was because of the effort but we all do the best we can. I'm very happy with my teammates.
There are many things that I need to improve in class. My lowest grade was the one of my exam. I think I need to study harder for getting a better grade in the next one. Another thing I need to improve is  all mu vocabulary. I have noticed that I use the same words and repeat them a lot of times while writing an essay or a text. Also many times I didn't go with the miss to clear my doubts. For the next period I will do it better. I will study harder and try to do all the extra activities for having more practice and getting a better grade.

Culture Shock Comic

The Culture Shock is the personal disorientation people may feel while they are experiencing a new life in a different country. It is usual that we get stressed and dramatic against many situations we live while we are away from home. There are four phases: the first one is the honeymoon phase, that is when people are excited to experience new things. The second one is the negotiation phase, that is when you start thinking about everything that will be new in the other country. The third one is the adjustment phase, that is when you are already in the destination and you start experiencing all those thing you had thought and they are not as easy as planned. At the end is the Mastery phase, that is when you start getting used to all the new things and even you start to crate a routine. We focused on the third phase, hope you enjoy our comic.
